Florian Malzacher (Autor, Hrsg.)

Florian Malzacher ist freier Kurator, Dramaturg und Autor. Nach seinem Studium der Angewandten Theaterwissenschaften in Gießen, arbeitete er als Theaterkritiker (u.a. Theater Heute, Frankfurter Rundschau, taz) bevor er von 2006 bis 2012 Leitender Dramaturg/Kurator des Festivals steirischer herbst in Graz wurde. Von 2013 bis 2017 war er künstlerischer Leiter des Impulse Theater Festivals (Düsseldorf, Köln und Mülheim/Ruhr).
Er (ko)kuratierte u. a. die Internationalen Sommerakademie (Mousonturm Frankfurt, 2002 & 2004), “Dictionary of War” (2006/07), „Truth is Concrete“ in Graz (2012), die performative Konferenz „Aneignungen“ im Ethnologischen Museum Berlin/Humboldt Lab (2015), „Artist Organisations International“ (HAU Berlin, 2015), das Festival „Vom Möglichkeitssinn“ zum Jahrestag der Russischen Revolution (St. Petersburg, 2017), “Training for the Future” (mit Jonas Staal, Ruhrtriennale 2018/19), und „Nach dem Beaufsichtigen der Maschinen“ (2020).
Als Dramaturg arbeitete er u.a. mit Rimini Protokoll, Lola Arias (ARG), Mariano Pensotti (ARG) oder Nature Theater of Oklahoma (USA).
Florian Malzacher ist Herausgeber und Autor zahlreicher Essays und Bücher zu Theater und Performance, sowie zum Verhältnis von Kunst und Politik.

Florian Malzacher is a curator, dramaturg and writer. After studying Applied Theatre Studies in Gießen he worked as a theatre critic (for publications including Theater HeuteFrankfurter Rundschau and taz) before becoming Chief Dramaturg/Curator for the festival steirischer herbst in Graz 2006 – 2012. From 2013 to 2017 he was Artistic Director of the Impulse Theater Festival (in Düsseldorf, Cologne and Mühlheim/Ruhr).
He (co-)curated e.g. the 4th and 5th International Summer Academy (Mousonturm Frankfurt, 2002 and 2004), “Dictionary of War” (2006/07), “Truth is concrete” (Graz, 2012), “Artist Organisations International” (HAU Berlin, 2015), the performative conference “Appropriations” (Ethnological Museum Berlin, 2014), “Sense of Possibility” on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the revolution (St. Petersburg, 2017), “Training for the Future” (Ruhrtriennale 2018/19 with Jonas Staal), “After Supervising the Machinery” (2020).
As a dramaturge he worked with artists like Rimini Protokoll (DE), Lola Arias (ARG), Mariano Pensotti (ARG), and Nature Theater of Oklahoma (USA).
Florian Malzacher has edited and written numerous essays and books on theatre and performance and on the relationship between art and politics.
